Tooth Extraction

While we always try to avoid it where possible, there are times when tooth extraction is the only valid course of action.

In most cases, this is because a tooth or teeth have become decayed or damaged beyond the point of repair, and to help preserve the health of the surrounding neighbouring teeth. Other situations in which tooth extraction might be recommended to you include overcrowding of the mouth, impacted or infected wisdom teeth, and a loose tooth that cannot be repaired.

If a tooth is broken or buried beneath the gum line – such as an impacted wisdom tooth – then a surgical extraction will be necessary. Simple extractions, where a local anaesthetic is applied and the tooth is gently removed using forceps, can usually be carried out in all other situations. We know tooth extraction can be daunting for some patients, but our team are compassionate and gentle as well as extremely skilled and will make sure you’re pain-free and comfortable throughout.

If necessary and provided the complexity of extraction is not too problematic, we are able to offer surgical extractions at 23 Dental.

I make a seventy mile round trip to have my (problematic) teeth looked after at 23 Dental, and have done for years. Which should demonstrate my opinion of the dentists here better than anything. Their unfailing calm, caring, gentle and individualistic approach never fails, and would reassure the most nervous patient. You get what you pay for, it is said, and when dealing with dental care you need the best. Especially when emergency treatment is needed. Any dentist can seem good when dealing only with routine work, but my experience here has always shown just how good dentists truly are when dealing with the emergency and the unexpected.

Appointment was a little late, but i was greeted by the dentist in the waiting room, and shown into the treatment room. The dentist explained what exactly she was going to do, and was very gentle throughout the checkup. Highly recommended.

Had the six month smile fitted mainly for one perticular tooth that bothered me and I was delighted and surprised to see how quick these worked! They pretty much moved my teeth straight away! Really pleased with the results! Rob at youngs was great and talked through everything with me, I highly recommend this dentist!
